The truth, the whole truth
   and nothing but the truth
about disposable cups
I’m sorry, honesty hurts,
but disposable cups shouldn’t be in the dirt.
I can’t sweeten this for you
check these facts,
form your own point of view.

In the USA alone there are an estimated 25 billion 'disposable' coffee cups thrown away each year. Most end up in landfill sites

Due to health regulations, the vast majority (90%+) of the paper in these cups is brand new virgin paper, not recycled materials

These cups cannot be recycled because they are laminated with a plastic resin (polyethylene) to insulate and seal them

As a disposable cup decomposes it releases methane, a greenhouse gas with 23 times the heat trapping power of carbon dioxide

Styrofoam cups are the worst culprits, they NEVER decompose

In the UK, vending machines dispense some 3 billion polystyrene cups annually

Back in 2000 it was reckoned that if every customer of one famous high street coffee chain used a re-usable cup, we could save 1,181,600 tons of wood, 2,040,061,237 pounds of carbon dioxide and 4,441,093,624 gallons of water per annum

If you order one drink a day to go in a disposable cup, you’ll create around 23lbs of waste a year

You can take on
   the take out cup...
